CHRISTIAN MOORE

Christian's method is a consistently evolving process. He constantly strives to perfect the pieces further, fine tuning his approach and skill.

The titles of his works are as much a part of each piece as the raw materials themselves - it all begins with the name. Often playful and witty, however layered with a serious undertone. Wording and imagery are synonymous with each other and integral to the power of the piece.

THE PROCESS

Christian spent many years developing a his technique of ‘sculpting' cold cast bronze directly onto the surface of his works.
The 'cold cast' is made in his studio using a fine bronze metal powder and a type of resin. Once cured, the metal is aged to suit the composition. He deliberately cracks the backgrounds of his work before bonding them to a flat backing surface. Colour is added to the background by adding and removing countless layers before the foreground texture is added using a mixture of ingredients including sand, paint and plaster. This texture is often a clean crisp white, which makes the painting feel fresh and modern - this acts as a complete counterbalance to the weathered and worn background. The shadows of the subject are painted onto the foreground and then the work is sealed and protected. The creation of each piece is a laborious, complicated process totally unique to Christian and his secret methods. It is blatantly obvious each work is filled with love and passion for the piece.
