JESS ELLIOTT
Jess is a British-born abstract artist working from her studio in Oxfordshire. Her painting is deeply intuitive, driven by a spirit of discovery and exploration. Embracing a process-led approach, she begins each piece with spontaneous, gestural mark-making and bold colour washes. She then refines and reworks the surface, scraping back layers to reveal hidden elements beneath, exploring the tension between order and chaos.
Jess works with a variety of mediums, including plaster, sand, acrylic, oil, and cold wax, creating richly textured, tactile pieces that invite close engagement. Colour is central to her practice, serving as an emotional language to convey her inner landscapes.
Internal Sensitivity and Everyday Life: Jess’s paintings emerge from her internal landscape, a rich tapestry woven from her emotions, memories, and sensory experiences. She channels her intuition, allowing it to guide her brushstrokes. Each mark on the canvas reflects a moment of connection with the world around her. Whether it’s the warmth of sunlight filtering through leaves or the melancholy of rain-soaked streets, Jess translates these sensations into abstract forms. Her work becomes a mirror for viewers, inviting them to explore their own inner landscapes.
